Local Area Information:

Peekskill, NY is a city in Westchester County, New York. It is situated on a bay along the east side of the Hudson River.

Peekskill homes are known for their character. Many were built in the late 1800's and early 1900's, so expect to see homes with beautiful fireplaces, lots of custom woodwork, beautiful flooring, and a riverfront that will take your breath away. Other homes await restoration and are lovely to discover.

In the last decade, there has been a focused effort to develop an artists' district. Downtown Peekskill, which offers it's own Metro North Train Station to NYC (in under 1 hr), is dotted with dance studios, painters' lofts, and awesome restaurants.

Depew Park is one of the nicest places in Peekskill. It is a great place to walk your favorite dog, run track, or just sit back and enjoy the beautiful lake.

Peekskill was known to be an early American industrial center, primarily for its iron plow and stove products. The Binney and Smith Company, now makers of Crayola products, started as the Peekskill Chemical Company at Annsville in 1864.
Peekskill's manufacturing base operated well into the late 1900s, with the Fleischmann Company making yeast by-products under the Standard Brands corporate name.
The Bear Mountain Bridge, five miles to the northwest, gives road access to Bear Mountain State Park across the Hudson River, and to the United States Military Academy at West Point via US 6 and US 202. The Croton Expressway portion of US 9 ends here. NY 9A and NY 35 also run through the city.
